Sunshine and blue skies greeted the 14 competitors for the 2009 Open Meeting. After a 1 hour postponement the Race Officer managed to get the first race under way in light and shifty conditions. Chris Warburton and Alison Norbury had great upwind speed and though John & Sue Billington and Keith & Chloe Macaulay worked hard they could not catch them.
The wind swung wildly during initial stages of the second race, Kris & Cora Kenmuir-Hogg took advantage and lead for the first two legs. They took John & Sue high on the second reach allowing Keith & Chloe and Chris & Alison through to leeward. After close racing Keith & Chloe held on to win from Chris & Alison and John & Sue.
This left 3 boats in contention for the overall title. After a good start and first beat Alistair Macaulay and Isobel Leroux rounded the windward mark first and held this for most of the race while John & Sue, Chris & Alison and Keith & Chloe battled round after them with regular place changes. John & Sue finally got through with two legs to spare, won the race and with it the event.
