13 Fireflies travelled to Royal Harwich to enjoy some of the finest East Coast sailing available. The event was, as usual, combined with the Lark and N12 classes with 41 boats on the water.
Both days saw very unpredictable weather with gusts and rain squalls making racing interesting. Race officer Graham Ireland provided as usual entertaining courses challenging with the best memories, ensuring somehow that fleets finished within a few minutes of each other.
On Saturday local team Alex Davey and Belinda Joslin won all three races despite destroying a mark in one race and duly completing turns. The chasing pack included Steve Greaves and Caroline Edwards, Stuart Hudson and Amy Bowden, Matt Johnson and Jess Dawkes. On Sunday it was Stuart and Amy’s turn, winning both races. Ali Barker and Nicky Goff were also in the leading pack and Amy Morris and Wayfaring legend Fran Gifford had a great last race, almost catching Stuart and Amy on the second beat.
Alex and Belinda and Stuart and Amy were equal points at the end of the weekend, but Alex and Belinda secured overall victory with their 3 wins.
