GJW Direct 2013 Firefly National Championship

27 July – 3 August, Royal Torbay YC

Notice of Race

Entry Form

The Royal Torbay Yacht Club is set to host another classic Firefly championship week – it’s a great location to sail with world-class race management. The week’s racing will follow the normal format with more two race days this year and the option of a crew’s race. A mix of gate and line starts will be used with the Sir Ralph Gore challenge endurance race on Wednesday 30th July. The RTYC is located  in the town of Torbay with the boats kept on the Harbour wall for the duration of the week. The club is famous for its hospitality, there is a multi-storey car park right next to the dinghy park and the famous racecourse area used for the 1948 Olympics is only a few minutes away.

On the social side there will be the usual mix of off-the-water frolics including live music, food and drink, crews’ union, helms’ dinner, quiz night, AGM. The Firefly nationals are also famed for their ‘Buddlies’ mentoring system and the Duckhams nearly-sunk nightly award for under/over achievement. Most of these events are hosted at the club and there are some meals included in the entry fee.

Needless to say there will also be a great prize lineup as this major event in the dinghy sailing calendar has attracted some great sponsors including our headline sponsor GJW Direct.
