The big event in the Firefly calendar takes place next week at Pwllheli sailing club in North Wales

100+ sailors are finalising plans to meet for their annual Championship week, widely regarded as one of the best and most competitive champs on the circuit. This year thanks to the famous hospitality of Pwllheli sailing club and the generous sponsorship of GJW direct insurance and many other local and national sponsors the week is shaping up to be a classic.

The series is spread over the week in a mix of long and short sea races with plenty of time to race hard and enjoy the stunning scenery with Snowdonia as the backdrop. Off the water the social program is set with evening activities at the club and the chance to contribute to the future of the class at the AGM.

The big race of the week is the Sir Ralph Gore Challenge cup, sailed for on Wednesday the 29th August but every race has a trophy and there are more ways to win a prize than winning a race!

Entries are still available until the practice race on Saturday the 25th August (1525) but if you can’t make the week check out our daily race reports on our site www.fireflyclass.co.uk and in the yachting press.
