Ed and Sophie

I love how when we go sailing  – we are always posed with new or interesting challenges. At Felixstowe Ferry , there is a fantastic shingle bar and a super strong current in the river. Making use of back eddies and creeping up the shore is all part of just getting out.

Once we were out, there was a short delay before racing got underway in about 8 knots of breeze. Alex Davey sailing with super crew Thomas Davey just crossed in front of us and managed to hold us off down the long downwind legs before extending and winning the race by a handsome margin. Just behind us it was very close with the top 10 all with a chance including Manchester Uni students Jenny Smallwood and Philip Aldous. Guy and Sally showed great speed on the long run and managed to  get right on our hip as we rounded for second time and managed to just get ahead.. Ominously Nigel and Emily were slowly moving up the fleet and by the finish had just nipped Ed and Sophie Smith to get 4th place.
