Exported to Tokyo through London docks, 25 October

1st owner – Capt (later Major) Peter Clarke, Royal Engineers, Tokyo.
See F1701, Patrick Clarke, son, Restronguet SC

Shipped to Tokyo on board civilian merchant vessel by Capt Clarke, at his own expense, for him and his family to enjoy sailing during his military posting to Tokyo to attend a two language training course.

Ultimate fate of the Firefly remains unknown following Major Clarke’s next posting to the Middle east.

Perhaps the only Firefly known to have been exported to Japan?

April 2023 – see image and link on NFA Facebook page to the Toba Sea Folk Museum, Japan, which presently has this Firefly on display surrounded by traditional wooden pleasure and fishing boats
