Fairey Marine records somewhat uncertain, but seemingly a batch of six Firefly kits (F2216/F2221) were supplied through Davis and Soper Ltd, 7th August 1958.
Research suggests this company, founded 1915, wound up 1960, based in Fenchurch Street, London, was an export agency, shipping goods to various parts of Africa.

F2219 had a Kenya owner registered with the NFA, and F2221 appears in an article in the Dinghy Year Book, 1962, written by John Batten,
in which he details his exploits racing her on a lake some 5,500 feet above sea level, formed by the Nairobi Dam.

He comments that his Firefly was one of six kits shipped out to Kenya, so we must perhaps assume from this batch.
NFA records suggest that both John’s F2221 and F2220 were shipped home to the UK, as both are subsequently noted in NFA membership records with UK owners.

The late John Batten (a correspondent with a local newspaper) on his return to the UK later raced a Laser, International 12 Square Metre Sharpie and Miracle from Bosham SC
and lived in a harbour side cottage at Langstone.

c 1958 – perhaps John Batten, Nairobi, Kenya
Bosham SC

c 1967 – perhaps Miss S Wells, Itchenor SC, named “Geordie Hinny” (RYA registered 1968/1969)

c 1977 – Raymond Kershaw, Laleham SC, named “Ultramine ll”
