NFA Boat Register advised me –

“Built in 1959, supplied to a Mr Lewis 29 May, perhaps Viv Lewis Boats, Small Heath, Birmingham, Midland SC and later builder and agent of grp Fireflies early 1970’s. Dispatched to him by rail from Fairey Marine’s workshop.

Sadly, no details of his address or club; later owners lived in the Birmingham area, based at Midland SC

Initially built to the Mark l layout, 160lb hull weight, spot on the class minimum at the time, 45lb galvanised steel plate and the newly introduced terylene sails from Ratsey & Lapthorn of Cowes.

Previously named “Aeschylus” (a 5th century Greek playwright) and “Scarlet”

History

Andy Reilly reports: “The boat was converted to a Mark IV layout by Derek Jolly using a full hull jig and deck patterns. Lovely job!”
