1st owner – John Fisher, London SW3, Itchenor SC.

(Born 1909, educated at Harrow and Balliol College, foreign newspaper correspondent, author and artist. Died c 1990, Chichester.

NFA Life member. Author of several dinghy sailing and racing related books early 1960’s, (Better Small Boat Sailing, New Small Boat Sailing, Sailing Dinghies, etc all published by Adlard Coles) illustrated wild life books, regular articles for Yachts and Yachting magazine, and early editions of The Dinghy Year Book.

Much involved with the initial design, development and introduction of Ratsey and Lapthorn terylene sails 1959/1960 to replace original Egyptian cotton cloth.

Firefly originally named “Honey”

Later raced National Swallow keelboat, K27, “Sapphire” with the Itchenor fleet and at Cowes, and was seen pottering with his Topper in Chichester Harbour during his retirement days)
