The event hosted by Itchenor SC, September 1966. Firefly donated by Sir Richard Fairey and built as all varnished, Mark II layout.
The brass Fairey Marine builder’s plate notes the names of the helm and crew of the Gresham’s entry to win this Firefly
c2001 – Tim Thornton – Hamble River SC Tim writes: “Sadly, no record of ownership between disposal by Greshams School, c1980 and acquisition by present owner. I bought the boat off someone else about 10 or 12 years ago – I think they sailed from Spinnaker.
It is said that Gresham’s named the Firefly after the nickname of the winning crew . . . .”

c2001 – Tim Thornton reports “I sailed from Hamble River SC for a couple of years, but then the boat began to need attention,
and over the last eight years I have been slowly doing a rebuild and Mark IV conversion.”
