History
.
Michael Brigg reports –
“Mid 1960’s – 1973 sailed locally in Chichester Harbour in club and junior races.
1972 – Winner of Felixstowe Ferry SC Sherren open meeting trophy
During the 1972 Championships, also hosted by Felixstowe Ferry, the raffle prize was a brand new complete Firefly! (F3372, “Ferryboat”) won by Jamie Birkett, Itchenor SC who sold this Firefly to the Brigg family.
Continued to race in club, open and Championships events until David Brigg died in 1989, while in the middle of a refurbishment.
Bought by Michael Brigg 1989 (to replace F2281, “Myth” sold to someone in Worthing, later resurfacing at Bewl Valley SC and Chipstead SC named “Aqua Vitae”, later “Poppet”)
F3184 stayed under cover until 2006 when an extensive refurbishment back to original was undertaken in Haines Boatyard at Itchenor. Foredeck and Mark II side-decks renewed, new transom, centre-thwart, forward centreplate supports, side bench, new mast and inside & out strip and revarnish. Finally completed and paid for September 2008. Now sailing at open meetings, Championships, and with a replacement Reynolds mast in Classic and Vintage Dinghy Association events as a Singlehander or crewed boat”
