The story goes that this Firefly was presented to the school by John Scott, Club Commodore, and named after his country residence in Scotland. Mr Scott, a ship owner, also owned a 20,000 ton bulk – carrier of this name, and the school was instructed not to sail the Firefly in international waters to avoid confusion with the names!
