History

NFA 07/2017

1965 – Herne Bay championships, helmed by Alistair Currey with John Hughes. Alistair recalls:, “abandoned at sea during the Sir Ralph Gore trophy race when the 50 boat strong fleet was decimated by a huge squall and high seas, picked up the following day by a Harwich to Hook ferry some seventy miles away. Rebuilt for the following season at the Fairey Marine workshops to the recently introduced Mark II layout and using her hull as the jig for subsequent deck conversions and kits.”

1967 Torquay Sir Ralph Gore Trophy, 163 entries, Alastair Currey, and Willie Knight, Itchenor SC and Bosham SC.

Many Chichester Harbour club, open, team racing events, and NFA championship successes. Perhaps the most successful Firefly in Chichester Harbour of the era.
